Once again the Gold King Mine & Ghost Town will play host to literally hundreds of classic Volkswagen’s, let alone the availability of hundreds if not thousands of parts and many friendships to be had. Once a year in September, the Arizona Bus Club organizes the Jerome Jamboree. The old softball field at the Gold King Mine offers the acreage needed to display so many VW’s as well as house folks for the weekend. Each year, the Arizona Bus Club purchases a Volkswagen Transporter to be overhauled, cleaned up and made oh so purty. The next step is to transport the VW up to the Gold King Mine where you can purchase a chance to win the VW Transporter on the final morning, Sunday. In between, you can expect many happenings and goings on, just take a walk around and strike up some conversations. Don’t forget your camera!
Content from the Arizona Bus Club Website:
The Arizona Bus Club is an Arizona-based, family-oriented club, dedicated to the restoration, preservation, and enjoyment of the Volkswagen Transporter. We are a collection of drivers and hobbyists whose preferred mode of transportation is old VWs, preferably buses. If that sounds like the kind of crowd you’d like to hang out with, come to our monthly general meeting or look us up at a show. The club is open to all Type II owners and all VW enthusiasts.
Every year the ABC raffles off a VW bus at our big event, the “Jerome Jamboree” in Jerome, AZ usually (but not always) the third weekend in September.
Raffle tickets are sold only at the event and YOU MUST BE PRESENT TO WIN!
