That’s right, the Gold King Mine begins to slowly move out of the winter shadows which is always a great sign of some warmer weather ahead. You should always check the weather forecast before heading up the hill to Jerome, then on to the Gold King Mine Ghost Town. The weather can change sometimes quickly, or we may be in for another wallop or two from storm systems. Typically, the weather at this time is pretty temperate, but always bring a warm jacket and your camera!
Wow, the weather in the Verde Valley in the month of February was really unsettled! From toasty days to freezing temperatures and snow. Typically, Jerome will bear the brunt of a winter storm, usually sparing our Clarkdale and Cottonwood neighbors just down the hill. We actually had to close for a few days last month on two occasions, due to the un-navigable roads to Jerome.
Now, it looks as if spring has sprung, and boy are we ready for it! Come on up the hill and enjoy the spring weather, just in time for spring break! You should always be prepared for chilly mornings when in the shade, but the sun begins warming things up around here quite nicely.
